Mme. Odile Lagacheri
Vice-President du
Conseil d'Administration
Université Stendhal-Grenoble3
Dear Vice
President Lagacherie,
May I take this
opportunity to express my concern about the attempt to close down
CEIMSA at Stendhal
University. This research center has been a place of excellence, a source
of creative
work, and ground-breaking conferences. As a participant of the 2002
international conference, which broght
together
first-rate academics and students from all over Europe
and the United
States,
I
was impressed by the number of
students who
displayed tremendous interest in the CEIMSA program. They
undoubtedly are
among the best I have ever encountered in my 38-year long academic
career. Prof.
Francis Feeley and hius
colleagues are doing a fantastic job raising the awareness of the
students of
the need to put joint effort in making the world a safer place.
As a holder of a
Ph.D. from Moscow
University,
the author of 10 books and over 150 articles, and as one who has taught
or
spoken at many universities throughout the United States,
Canada,
and Europe, I
call on
you to take into account for the needs and interests of the academic community and reconsider your decision.
Prof. Yuri Stulov, Ph.D.
Director of the American
Studies
Center,
European Humanities
University, Minsk,
Belarus
