Dear Colleagues and
Friends of CEIMSA,
Our immediate experiences
over the past several months should suffice to inform us of the many different
meanings terms like “climate change” and “pandemic” carry when applied to our
daily lives and disappointments. The authoritarian “optimism” and “virtue signaling”
that we confront so frequently these days appear as a veil concealing
unresolved problems and desperate solitude. This plague is widespread, and we
frequently come across wanton violence against arbitrarily chosen targets,
targets which promise the least resistance in self-defense. This is Fascism,
though not the complete story (and we thereby avoid the classic syndrome
of “analysis/paralysis”).
The poetry of everyday
living is the source of energy and vision that compels us to continue our
struggle for enlightenment even against great odds. The “omniscient” multi-billionaires
- these stunning products of capitalist “success formulas” - have much to offer
society by way of negative examples. The reduction of their onanistic
lives to “formula thinking” and the destruction of our environment, for which
they are largely responsible, offer important lessons in how to live a good
life, if we remain attentive and open to our surroundings.
By way of contrast, pseudo-scientific
ways of thinking are embedded in disastrous tautologies, the logic of which returns
us to a previous ancestral existence – the life of an earthworm. The very
horror of being human sends us backwards to a sinister fishing trip, where we
are the bait, happy to be useful.
The 25 + items
below offer readers critical essays and articles which attempt to stimulate
conversations about our existence and our desires to live fully, as authors of
our own lives. If we fail to live up to these expectations, it is not the
community that has failed us; it is we who have failed the community. We could
do better than simply exist to prepare for our inevitable death. Ruling-class
ideologies - invariably serving in the defense of capitalist exploitation and
necessary external social controls to stabilize inequalities – serve as
blinders shielding us from discovering our own proper instincts and aspirations
which can develop only from shared conversations. How else can we discover the many
paradoxes we are presently living: We are more than we think we are, because we
are less than we imagine we are (having been drastically reduced by the violence
of consumer society and the ideology of “possessive individualism”).
How much longer can we
keep our faith in blind obedience to authority, now that the angles of death are
stalking us, serving dutifully the mandate of their God, to cull populations in
society . . . ?

about the Rise of the New Normal Reich. You want it to
be over. So do I. It isn’t over … not by a long shot.
It
might seem like it’s over where you are. I imagine it does if you live in
Florida, or in Texas, or the UK, or Sweden, or Croatia, or in some other
country or state in which the majority of the “Covid
restrictions” have been lifted, or perhaps were never introduced in the first
place.
If
that’s the case, I’m happy for you.
I
happen to live in New Normal Germany, the current tip of the New Normal spear,
or one of the tips of one of its spears (or mRNA-laced hypodermic needles), the
others being countries and states like Canada, China, Australia, New York,
California, and assorted other hotbeds of New Normalism.
If
you live in one of these New Normal strongholds, as I do, you are acutely aware
of how it is not over.
Yes, the Covidian
Cult is kaput. The spell has been broken. Only the most insanely
fanatical New Normal cultists continue to walk around in public in their plague
masks and homemade hazmat suits. But the New Normal Reich is not kaput. The New
Normal Reich is being … well, normalized.
The
masses are being systematically conditioned to accept the biosecurity
police state that the global-capitalist ruling classes have been implementing
for the last three years. Despite the now irrefutable evidence that the
“vaccines” do not prevent transmission of the virus, “the Unvaccinated” are
still being segregated, banned from working, attending school, competing in
major sporting events, and so on.
People
are still being forced to wear masks — the symbol of the New Normal Reich — on
planes, trains, public transport, in doctors offices,
hospitals, et cetera. Here, there, and everywhere, New Normal symbols and
social rituals are being permanently integrated into everyday life.

Food pantries and food banks are a key
economic indicator for tracking poverty levels and financial instability in the
US, and in the past few months they have been ringing alarm bells.
Stagflationary pressures have all but wiped out the savings of the
average American and driven up credit card debt to historic highs. Only
in the past month have credit spending and debt levels begun to slide, but this
is more a sign that consumers are tapped out rather than a sign of a return to
normalcy. High prices are slowly but surely overwhelming lower wage workers
in particular. The average living wage across most US states is around
$16 an hour; over 30% of
American workers make less
than $15 an hour.
Democrats and leftists will of course
claim that this is because the Federal Minimum Wage is too low and needs to be
increased, but the minimum wage has become irrelevant in the post-covid economy. Many retail and service companies now
pay around $11-14 an hour, well above minimum wage, in order to retain workers.
And STILL prices are too high for many of these people to keep up with
expenses.
Can average workers demand more
money? Probably not. Low skill and
no-skill workers are going to have a hard time rationalizing $16-$20 an hour
for flipping burgers, brewing coffee or running cash registers. Such a
broad wage increase would also trigger even higher prices on most goods,
defeating the purpose of higher pay.
The notion of a low wage worker revolt
is a bit of a fantasy, and in some ways it can be dangerous for those that
believe in it. The trillions of dollars in covid
stimulus unleashed in 2020 may have boosted retail sales and employment for a
couple of years, but that's coming to an end quickly. Workers can only
opt out of certain jobs for a short time (as long as their parents will let
them freeload), and bargaining for more money is dependent on their ability to
get employment elsewhere. It's a sure bet that by mid-2023 many “wage
revolutionaries” will be begging for their old burger jobs
back.

Prior
to the Industrial Revolution, most humans were engaged in agriculture. Our
relationship with nature was immediate. Within just a few generations, however,
for many people across the world, their link with the land has been severed.
Food
now arrives pre-packaged (often precooked), preserved with chemicals and
contains harmful pesticides, micro-plastics, hormones and/or various other
contaminants. We are also being served a narrower menu of high-calorie food
with lower nutrient content.
It
is clear that there is something fundamentally wrong with how modern food is
produced.
Although,
there are various stages between farm and fork, not least modern food
processing practices, which is a story in itself, a key part of the problem lies
with agriculture.
Today,
many farmers are trapped on chemical and biotech treadmills. They have been
encouraged and coerced into using a range of costly off-farm inputs, from
synthetic fertilisers and corporate-manufactured
seeds to a wide array of weedicides and pesticides.
With
the industrialisation of agriculture, many poor,
smallholder farmers have been deskilled and placed into vulnerable positions.
Traditional knowledge has been undermined, overwhelmed or has survived only in
fragments.

The
United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia indictment of Julian Assange is a curious document. By the end of it you
can’t help feeling that if anyone is to be indicted, it should be the US
Government and the CIA.
Assange is accused of conspiracy to receive
national information, obtaining national defence
information, disclosure of national defence
information and conspiracy to commit computer intrusion. Which
is just a regular day at the office for any one of the alphabet agencies such
as the CIA, FBI and NSA or for that matter, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Nielsen and the rest.
According
to the Oxford English dictionary, ‘conspiracy’ is a secret plan by a group of
people to do something harmful or illegal. But there was nothing secret about
it. Assange used his own name,
advertised for material of ‘ethical significance’ on the Wikileaks
website and publicly announced the search for such information at the 26th
Chaos Communication Congress in December 2009.
The
CIA website on the other hand talks of
‘covert action’ and ‘coordinated espionage’ while MI5 ‘eavesdrop, tap telephone calls and
communicate secretly’ in order to spy both nationally and internationally.
Was
it harmful? According to the indictment, any unauthorized disclosure ‘could
harm the national security of the United States’. But before documents were
released, Wikileaks redacted information such as
names of confidential informants so as not to put lives at risk. It was only
when threatened by the intelligence community that Assange
warned that such ‘harm minimization’ could not be guaranteed if anything should
happen to himself or Wikileaks as encrypted backups
of material yet to be released were routinely distributed and required only a
password for the material to be made instantly available.
Furthermore
the US Army admitted
in a 2013 court hearing, that a team of 120 counter-intelligence officers had
failed to find a single person in Iraq and Afghanistan who had died because of
disclosures by WikiLeaks.
As
for the legality, Assange didn’t sign a classified
information nondisclosure agreement. What he did was take a leaf directly out
of the CIA playbook: ‘Our operations
officers recruit well-placed human assets with access to information’.
The CIA website goes on to point out that spying can be a dangerous game: ‘Spies risk imprisonment, the loss of their
job, reputation, or family and friends. Some are even at risk of execution if
caught’.
Mike
Pompeo – then head of the CIA – decided there had to
be a connection with Russia, which enabled the switch of Wikileaks
and Assange from the constitutionally protected
journalism field to the targetable ‘non-state hostile intelligence service’
one. This meant Assange could be tried under The
Espionage Act.

Perhaps
more than anything else, the one question that is going to determine whether or
not people make money in the market in the second half of this year is whether
or not bad news is once again good news. So, let’s discuss the setup: what the
macro picture looks like to me, and what I see as possible outcomes going
forward.
Heading
into the inflationary crisis that we are in, back on December 17, 2021, I wrote an article talking
about why the “bad news” of inflation was simply just bad news. In other words,
it couldn’t once again be a prompt for the Fed to swoop in and save markets, as
they have done over the last several decades. In that article, I called the
taper a non-sugar coated directional negative for
markets.
The
day prior, CNBC led with the headline:
Dow futures up
nearly 200 points following Fed decision to aggressively wind down asset
purchases
My
article ridiculed market participants, analysts and financial media for
suggesting that inflation wasn’t going be a problem and that winding down asset
purchases was somehow going to magically propel stocks higher.
Since
then, the S&P has seen an -11.57% plunge, the Russell has fallen about
-13.63% and the NASDAQ, as I first predicted would happen back in
November 2021, has been pasted to the tune of -19.4%.

Here, this will put it in perspective.
If you make $60,000 a year (after taxes), then you’re doin’

can feel like only luck separates the living from the dead in those moments.
After all, the sole purpose of the Israeli soldier is to eliminate the native

the morning of 16 June, Majid Fakhri Baker went
fishing off the coast of Beach refugee camp along with his nephew and another
relative.
As
a member of a well-known fishing family, Majid, 38, had been in the industry
for 18 years. Yet, after that June morning, he decided to quit the fishing
business entirely.
While
they collected fish from their nets, an Israeli naval vessel approached Majid’s small boat. The fishers said, loudly, “We are
fishers who just want to fish.” Majid said he couldn’t make out their faces; he
just saw individuals in tactical gear and sunglasses.
The
Israeli naval vessel rammed Majid’s boat and opened
fire on the men with rubber bullets. Majid was knocked off his feet and
collided with an iron pole in the middle of the boat. His nephew Nasser, 18, was
hit by a rubber bullet in the left shoulder. Yet it was the other man on the
boat, Muhammad, 27, who sustained the most serious injuries from rubber
bullets.
Muhammad
was taken to al-Shifa hospital due to severe bleeding
in the pelvic area. He is still receiving treatment for his injuries in the
form of painkillers and periodic injections of antibiotics.

The announcement by Russian Defence Ministry on Tuesday on Vostok-22 strategic command
post exercises during August 30-September 5 gives a big message to the West in
political and military terms.
The
announcement said,
“In
addition to the troops (forces) of the Eastern Military District, units of the
Airborne Troops, Long Range Aviation and Military Transport Aviation, as well
as military contingents from other states, will be involved in these manoeuvres.”
If
there is going to be participation by China, it will be highly significant in
the present context of global politics, especially in the Far East.
Vostok 2018, held exactly four years ago, was
the first time such a massive military
exercise was held after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. (At the height of the Cold War in 1981 under Leonid Brezhnev, the
Soviet Union held its last Vostok exercise).
In the event, Vostok 2018 turned into a Russia-China
gun show.
The
Russian Federation put more than 300,000 troops in the field—alongside tens of
thousands of tanks, helicopters, and weapons of every sort—for a huge war game
in Russia’s far-eastern reaches, and invited the Chinese People’s Liberation
Army to play along, which it did.
And
a whole new groove in international affairs began appearing, signifying that
the interests of Russia and China have once again begun to align — this time
around, in response to US military power under a pugnacious president, Donald
Trump.
On
the sidelines of the exercise, Presidents
Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping had a breakfast
of blinis together in Vladivostok. It was a powerful
signal that Russia no longer saw China as an adversary but as a potential
military ally. It was widely noted internationally as heralding a major shift
in the co-relation of forces in world politics.
To
be sure, any Chinese participation in Vostok 2022
will be similarly subjected to close analysis by Washington and its allies at a
time of heightened tension in US-China relations, with Beijing warning last
week to take “resolute and strong measures” should the Speaker of the US House
of Representatives Nancy Pelosi proceed with reported plans to visit
Taiwan.
