Dear Colleagues and Friends of
CEIMSA,
We seem to find ourselves in the
proverbial situation of not seeing the forest for the trees. The social and
political fragmentation that we are now experiencing and which is enforced by
ceaseless propaganda and advertising - not to mention the various psyops we encounter – provokes a disorientation that can
dehumanize us and produce an absolute dependency on formal authorities. This authority is more
often than not ill-willed, given the state of extreme inequality in which we
are now living and the underlying predatory nature of the political economy.
As readers examine the articles
and essays below, they will discover that one theme in these Anglophone publications
taken from independent social media sources is quite different from that found in
the regimented corporate media, viz. the
alternative assumption that only We the People can rescue ourselves from the pitfalls
of inequality, with the help of those similarly captured in this situation. The will
to defend ourselves must come from within us, and not through manipulation from
behind the scenes on the part of some self-appointed elitist political hierarchy.
Our skills of communication and
cooperation have been greatly diminished, and we find ourselves too often silenced by
clichés and received ideas. Entering an open dialogue in the midst of this
confusion may appear like learning to swim in deep water – it can be a torment
or a great pleasure. It sometimes involves overcoming irrational fears by focusing
on the gestalt and becoming one with the whole.
We are living in a system and this system exists within us; when we see the
system doing harm to some of us, we are sooner or later compelled to think, to analyze, and to
act. The fundamental question remains: Who benefits from this inequality and the futile aggressions that it engenders?
The following 22 + items
provide a glimpse into discourses which are circulating in the Anglophone
social media this week and which reflect the vital concerns of us all in these
perilous times when predators prevail.

Arms makers are stoking conflicts
and then pitching weapons as a path to peace.
This spring, Lockheed Martin is expanding operations to meet Ukraine’s
demand for arms. In recent months, its Camden, Arkansas, plant won nearly a
half-billion dollars in contracts for
the High
Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS)
— doubling production targets and prompting Lockheed officials to consider
adding a night
shift.
Russia’s
war in Ukraine has turned the HIMARS rocket launcher into a lethal symbol of
U.S. innovation. Last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy presented President Joe Biden with a
military medal from the captain of a Ukrainian HIMARS unit. The Arkansas
Chamber of Commerce named it the “Coolest
Thing Made in Arkansas!”
Camden’s
brush with prosperity reflects a boom in NATO-bloc defense production. One
Spanish munitions company, Expal, produced 280 tons
of explosives at a single plant for
Ukrainian forces last year. The German conglomerate Rheinmetall
is even considering building a tank
factory in Ukraine.
Since the
2022 Russian invasion, NATO leaders have advocated arming Ukraine, as images of
besieged civilians and stoic soldiers confronting foreign aggression transfix
observers. Industry voices argue that military aid is both a strategic
necessity and moral imperative.
Yet, leading
contractors — including Lockheed
Martin and Rheinmetall — have notorious records of promoting corruption and hawkish
policies that undermine peace. Many actively violate arms embargoes,
exacerbating conflicts across the world, and previously aided the
Russian war effort.
Ultimately,
Western military exports to Ukraine reveal dangerous industry trends and a
resurgent history of militarism. As military budgets rise, power has
increasingly concentrated in the hands of defense officials with an incentive
to seek conflict.
Cold Blaze
Since the formation of NATO in 1949, members have relied on foreign
markets to reduce weapons costs and sustain their industrial base.
Historically, fierce competition encouraged governments to tolerate staggering
levels of corruption and illegal
sales tactics. The Cold War blazed in the Third
World, where superpowers competed to transform newly independent countries into
clients, inflaming regional disputes and proxy wars.
By the
1970s, the arms trade was the uncontrollable fuel propelling globalization. In
1973, U.S. military aid to Israel triggered an Arab
energy embargo, increasing the price of oil
fourfold and flooring the global economy. To recover the petrodollars filling
Middle-Eastern treasuries, NATO members sold
massive quantities of arms to the region. Increasingly,
oil producers and defense contractors bartered energy for weapons, fusing the
two industries.
U.S.
officials championed
sales, while assuring corporations that
they had “no objection to the arms-for-oil idea.” President Jimmy Carter
previously drummed up
business for Lockheed as governor of Georgia,
before selling Iran a record $5.7
billion in weapons during his first year in the
Oval Office. Eventually, sales precipitated an Iranian debt crisis, accelerating
the 1979 revolution.

promised a longer take on the Pentagon “leaks”, and here it goes. Regular
readers will probably be familiar with my view on leaked documents in general,
but if you’re not allow me to quote my own 2019
article on the (absurd) “Afghanistan
papers”:
”An
awful lot of modern ‘leaks’ are no such thing. They
are Orwellian exercises in controlling the conversation […] carefully making
sure the ‘establishment’ and the ‘alternative’ are joined in the middle,
controlled from the same source.”
That’s not
to say ALL “leaks” are automatically and ubiquitously narrative control
exercises, clearly some are real…but it’s usually pretty easy to tell them
apart. In fact here’s a little checklist.

It has been fifty-five
years since Senator Robert F. Kennedy stepped onto the presidential nominating
stage to try to mend the massive breach that had opened in American
society. The country was torn asunder by the Vietnam War, racism,
poverty, the assassination of President Kennedy and the soon-to-be
assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Chaos reigned as Lyndon
Johnson lied and Richard Nixon matched him in verbal and actual
treachery. A war between Middle America and the elites running the government
was breaking out across the country. A great divide between whites and
blacks, rich and poor, the working class and the upper class was opening
wide. The Tet Offensive had just ripped the
face off the official lies about the course of the war in Vietnam and the
emperor, Lyndon Jonson, stood naked and would soon announce that he would not
run again.
On March 16, 1968, Senator Kennedy declared his
candidacy with these words:
“I do not run for the presidency
merely to oppose any man but to propose new policies. I run because I am
convinced that this country is on a perilous course and because I have such
strong feelings about what must be done, and I feel that I’m obliged to do all
that I can.”
I run to seek new policies – policies to end the
bloodshed in Vietnam and in our cities, policies to close the gaps that now
exist between black and white, between rich and poor, between young and old, in
this country and around the rest of the world.
By the end of 1968, a plague year if there ever were
one, Richard Nixon, together with his goon squad, prepared to occupy the White
House, Vietnam raged on, and everything King and Kennedy stood for seemed
lost. Ignorance, vituperation, and the divide-and-conquer technique long
practiced by the power elites set into the body politic like a deadly
cancer. Something died, all hope seemed lost, and the perilous course RFK
spoke of was never stopped. Jackals with polished faces have sat in the
White House ever since.
Today hope is resurrected. Enter Robert F. Kennedy,
Jr. center stage who will declare his candidacy for the Democratic nomination
for president on Wednesday, April 19, in Boston, Massachusetts.
The wheel of history has turned and 2023 resembles
1968 in many ways while getting worse in others. The divide in the
country remains but has greatly widened. The CIA and the intelligence agencies
totally control the mainstream media now. The Pentagon’s budget has increased
exponentially. The U.S. wages a savage war against Russia in Ukraine under the
blatant lie of defending freedom while supporting Nazis and greatly risking
nuclear war. It provokes war with China. Permanent war is government policy
with military bases and CIA and special forces all
over the world, waging semi-clandestine wars, or maybe just wars that people
don’t want to know about. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened
while the elites mock working class people as moronic deplorables.
The Department of Defense controls the development, manufacturing, clinical
testing, supply, production, and distribution of the mRNA vaccines, while the
criminal pharmaceutical companies reap obscene profits. Lies are piled
upon lies in what amounts to an Orwellian nightmare. And
while LBJ and Nixon have been replaced by Joe Biden, the warfare state roll on.
Some things have changed, of course. In 1968,
liberals were turning against the U.S. war against Vietnam and were growing
wary of the CIA. Today they support all the Democratic-led wars and love the
CIA. They trust the obvious media lies and those of a proven liar such as
Anthony Fauci. Nowhere is this sadly truer than with
the extended Kennedy family, who in their support for Biden, Fauci, the CIA, etc. have betrayed JFK and RFK.
Their smugness and support for Biden against their brother who is carrying on
his uncle’s and father’s legacy is betrayal of the worst kind.
Despite a family actively opposed to his candidacy,
despite all the media lies about him, and despite the odds makers giving him
little chance, RFK, Jr. is entering the race. It is an act of supreme moral
courage.
Like his father in ’68, he is the only candidate who
can heal this nation’s great divide.
That he is opposed by a huge array of people who
will lie about him because he is a truthteller does
not deter him. Those lies immediately started up again as soon as word got out
that he might run. It’s an old story.
Trash will be thrown at him. Every blemish of
his nearly seventy years will be dredged up to paint him as a villain, a flawed
man, a hypocrite – name all the negative terms you can think of and the real
hypocrites, in their self-righteous rage, will use them against him. They
will bounce off him. He is ready.

Is Leading the World Into the Abyss
When Bobby, Jr. was young, his father handed him a
book and said with urgency, “I want you to read this.” It was Albert
Camus’s The Plague. He read it and it has informed his life ever
since. Just as in 1968, we live in plague times, and the plague is US, it
runs through all our institutions and, as in Camus’s books, the rats are
running wild, devouring truth and the values that can redeem us. As he
has written in his beautiful and important book, American Values: Lessons I
Learned from My Family, Camus’s analysis of Sisyphus and the ancient Greeks
has taught him an important lesson:
It is neither our position nor our circumstances
that define us, according to the Stoics, but our response to those
circumstance; when destiny crushes us, small heroic gestures of courage
and service can bring us peace and fulfillment. In applying our shoulder to the
stone, we give order to a chaotic universe. Of the many wonderful things my
father left me, this philosophical truth was perhaps the most useful. In many
ways, it has defined my life, and has allowed me to find serenity and purpose
even in the most trying and tragic circumstances. (p.287)
Despite its brilliance, American Values (see this) was completely ignored by the
mainstream press. Why? Because it revolves around
“Chapter 9, Senator Robert F. Kennedy” and the long war between the Kennedys
and the CIA that resulted in the deaths of JFK and RFK. In this
chapter, RFK, Jr. brilliantly shows that he fully grasps the CIA’s evil
history. All the other chapters, while very interesting personal and
family history, pale in importance. No member of the Kennedy family since JFK
or RFK has dared to say what RFK, Jr. does in this book. He indicts the CIA.
This is probably not a small part of his extended family’s animosity toward
him. Family taboos must be protected, as if they were state secrets.
But his indictment of the CIA is the fundamental
reason why it and the media will at all costs try to prevent him from getting
the nomination. The character assassination will be intense.
Kennedy knows he faces an uphill battle for the presidency,
but no matter what forces are aligned against him, political and familial, he
will not back down.

to carry out acts to sabotage, divide and destabilize the Soviet state.

And so the
“Twitter Files” Limited Hangout has come to its inevitable, ignominious end. It
is over. The Twitter-Files story is dead. It isn’t pining for the fjords. It is
deceased, cadaverous, bereft of life. It has bought the farm and gone to meet
its maker. It is Humpty Dumpty. It has fallen off the wall. Nothing can put it
back together again.
I have to tip my hat to Elon Musk. It was quite an impressive limited hangout. The
way Musk took the potential story of a global network of Intelligence agencies,
corporations, NGOs, and assorted “disinformation experts” censoring,
visibility-filtering, and otherwise neutralizing dissent as GloboCap
executed the “shock-an-awe” phase of the roll-out of the “New Normal” over the
last three years … the way Musk took that potentially game-changing story by
the throat and throttled it, played around with its corpse for a while like a
cat, and then finally threw it down, squatted over it, and obstreperously,
definitively defecated on it, that was … well, quite impressive.
If you missed the final twists and
turns in the Twitter-Files story (R.I.P), Matt Taibbi,
who is currently attempting to enjoy a vacation at Disneyland with the wife and
kids, published an update on Racket News,
his “Twitter-killing” Substack newsletter covering
the juicy bits.
Here’s the “money” paragraph, or
most of it …
In doing all this Elon immolated the last remnants of any reputation he had
as a free speech advocate and gave immeasurable succor to the assorted David
Brocks, AOCs, and Renee DiRestas who view him as an
antichrist. All can now point to his outbursts of cartoon censorship and argue
individual eccentric CEOs are the real danger to free expression, not squads of
executives working in oligopolistic secrecy with the FBI, DHS, and ten million
Pentagon-funded Centers for Securing Whatever. It won’t be true, but Elon’s public meltdown will in the short run take a ton of
pressure off these villains, while accelerating the piranha frenzy currently skeletonizing Twitter’s profits …”
What Matt can’t quite say (and I
understand why) is that Elon’s meltdown will not just
“give immeasurable succor” to the David Brocks, AOCs, and other functionaries
and puppets who have demonized him, and “take a ton of pressure off these
villains,” it will effectively kill the future of the story, and consign what
has been reported so far to the “lunatic fringes” of the Internet, where no one
“normal” will ever be forced to pay it any serious attention again.
That, my friends, is called a
limited hangout. As I explained in my
column in January…
“The
way a limited hangout works is, if you’re an intelligence agency, or a global
corporation, or a government, or a non-governmental organization, and you have
been doing things you need to hide from the public, and those things are
starting to come to light such that you can’t just deny that you are doing them
anymore, what you do is, you release a limited part of the story (i.e., the
story of whatever it is you’re doing) to distract people’s attention from the
rest of the story. The part you release is the ‘limited hangout.’ It’s not a
lie. It’s just not the whole story. You ‘hang it out’ so that it will become
the whole story, and thus stop people from pursuing the whole story.”

We are in the middle of a
world-changing war right now.
Oh, I don't mean the war in Ukraine,
the one that all the media are asking you to focus your attention on. Yes, that
conflict continues to escalate, and every day there are new stories about provocations
and threats that could lead to a nuclear exchange . . . but that's not the war I'm referring to.
No, the war I'm talking about is an even broader
war. A war that is taking place everywhere on the globe, even as I speak, and
that involves virtually everyone on the planet, young and old, male and female,
military and civilian. It is the war of every government against its own
population and every international institution against free humanity.
This is no ordinary war, however.
Most of the victims of this warfare aren't even able to identify it as war, nor
do they understand that they are combatants in it.
It's called fifth-generation
warfare, and I'm here to tell you all about it.

What a bizarre world we are living
in. The Epoch Times has recently published an article based on whistleblower
evidence that the United States Government, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, has used it’s congressionally-approved
non-profit (called the CDC Foundation) to contract with at least one company to
perform cyberstalking and gang stalking attacks on
licensed physicians accused of spreading misinformation about COVID public
health policies including genetic vaccines.

Frankly, I think that the editors of
the Epoch Times buried the lede on this one. This is
a far larger story of government malfeasance than the relatively benign
headline seems to indicate. Of course corporate media has completely overlooked
<eg. buried> the
story. This is yet more evidence of the US Government deploying Fifth
Generation (cyber)Warfare/PsyOps/Propaganda
technologies on its citizens, in this specific case against US Licensed
physicians that contradicted officially promoted false narratives concerning
the COVIDcrisis and the abysmal public health
policies which were promoted by the WHO, US HHS, and specifically the CDC.
As I have said many times before,
how can a democratic society exist when the government is willing and able to
deploy fifth generation PsyOps/PsyWar
technologies against its own citizens? The concept of personal sovereignty and

There is a strange idea hovering
about that if you don’t know something then it doesn’t exist. Kind of like the
image of the proverbial ostrich with his head in the sand. But it goes beyond
denial. Ignorance is when you don’t know something at all, denial is when you
know it, but you ignore it.
What I am talking about here is when
you know something and do not deny it, but simply rationalize it away with a
statement like “they must have a good
reason for doing that,” or similarly, “maybe we don’t know all that there is to know about that.”
Which is often followed with, “and I
don’t have the time, (inclination, care, interest, curiosity, ability, intelligence,
etc.) to look into it further.”
This has always bugged me to some
extent, but I must admit I have been marginally guilty of this sort of thinking
myself. I mean, do we really have the time to check everything? Well, now I
think we have to make the time, and, of course, not everything is important
enough to require vetting it for truth. That is an awful thing to say, but I am
afraid it is the truth.
Part of this “gullibility” that
causes many people to just brush things off assuming that all is ok comes from
indoctrination from an early age. I grew up in a culture that seemed to be
really obsessed with people’s safety—particularly the safety of children. Think
of all the recalls of toys and such. If some toy comes out that has the
slightest bit of uncertainty about how it might harm your child, it is pulled.
I should not say I “grew up” with
this because most of the crap I played with as a kid would be considered a
lethal weapon today—Lawn Darts, BB and pellet guns, Vac-U-Forms,
chemistry sets, Easy Bake ovens (this was my sister’s toy, she was a little
girl, I was a little boy—I tell you this for clarity). The “safety craze”
didn’t really start until a decade or so later. I even remember some kid I knew
got an “Atomic Energy Lab” toy that had actual uranium ore in the kit.
I would have died (literally) to get
my hands on one of these.
Those were the days.
So over the decades, due to these
recalls and safety concerns, we have developed a false sense of security. What
regulation agency would bother to recall Lawn Darts but at the same time allow
an unsafe vaccine to reach the unwilling arms of children? Well, toys are toys,
vaccines are medicine. There ‘ya go.
The government,
and other regulatory agencies, know what’s right, right?
Being born into a culture (US) that
was known for its integrity, truthfulness, righteousness, and a penchant for
character and goodness (ha, ha), no one would ever think that the CIA would
have been actively trying to assassinate Fidel Castro, among others, for
decades.
I remember first hearing a rumor
about this when I was about 15. “No
way,” I thought to myself.
“Assassinations are illegal! My country would never be involved in such a
thing!” Especially attempting to murder a leader of a country that
really was just minding their own business. At least
so it seemed. (Today, when we hear of such things, we shrug our shoulders and
say, “They must know what they are
doing.”)
And what
about Iran’s Mosaddegh? He was
minding his own business overseeing the affairs of Iran as Prime Minister from
1951 to 1953. The US wasn’t happy with him for a number of reasons (primarily
economic, like, for example, Mosaddegh wanted Iran to
get a bigger share of oil profits that the US and UK were sucking out of his
nation’s oil fields, imagine that! What audacity!). The CIA bopped him off as
well—indirectly with a CIA created insurrection, which led to Mosaddegh’s imprisonment and more than likely contributed
to his health issues, then he died). Sure there is detail here I am not
presenting, but you get the picture.
The US Government must have had a
good reason.

Elected
politicians in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom signed on to
letters to United States Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding that the
Justice Department drop the charges against WikiLeaks
founder Julian Assange.
A letter of opposition signed by four members of the U.S. House of
Representatives, including Representative Rashida Tlaib, who initiated the letter, was prepared. However, it
had not yet been sent to Garland at the time of publication.
The letters were timed to mark the fourth anniversary of Assange’s
arrest and detention.
On April 11, 2019, Ecuador President Lenin Moreno expelled Assange
from the country’s London embassy. British police dragged him out of the
embassy and took him in a van to Belmarsh
high-security prison, where he has been detained without bail ever since.
That same day the U.S. Justice Department unsealed an indictment from December
2017 that charged Assange with conspiracy to commit a
computer intrusion. In May 2019, prosecutors followed that charge with an
indictment that contained 17 charges under the Espionage Act.

latest ways was to arrest WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange
four years ago today and to indict him — the first time a publisher and

Though two

information, they both failed, until Assange.
A major
hurdle for the government is overcoming the conflict between the Espionage Act
and the First Amendment, which
prohibits Congress from passing any law, including the Act,
that abridges press freedom.
Until that
legal conflict is resolved in court, resulting in parts of the Espionage Act
being found unconstitutional, the language of the Act threatening press freedom
remains.
Bolstered
by 1950 amendments to the Act, the Donald Trump administration crossed a redline to arrest a journalist. A 1961 amendment made it possible to indict
a non-U.S. citizen, acting outside U.S. territory.

administration’s first indictment of a publisher opened an alarming precedent

Digital currencies
A package of bills on the digital
ruble is currently making its way through the State Duma.
Originally slated to be passed by April 1, the legislation is now expected to
be adopted by early May.
Thirteen Russian banks are
participating in a pilot project of the digital token. If the test run is
successful, within 3-5 years the Bank of Russia’s CBDC could be used for social
payments, including pensions, Izvestia reported at
the end of March.
The traceable, programmable currency
has been marketed to the public as a tool to bypass sanctions and reduce
corruption.

Late last night, the world was
rocked – ROCKED – by the announcement of yet another variant of “covid”.
XBB.1.16 – codenamed Arcturus for as yet obscure reasons – is actually just a
sub-variant of Omicron, and is “fuelling
a rise of infections in India” amid concerns it:
it could be
one 1.2 times more infectious than the last major sub-variant.
The supposed “surge” of cases has
already meant mask mandates are returning in
certain parts of India.
You’ll notice it’s only ever
sub-variants of Omicron these days, never full variants. This is doubtless for
very complicated taxonomic reasons and has absolutely nothing to do with the
next Greek letter being Pi, which would make the “Pi variant” sound very silly.
Back to Arcturus,
which has apparently been in circulation since late March and
is only hitting the headlines now for unknown reasons. According to the
media, it’s one of over 600 sub-variants of Omicron, and is no more deadly than
the others, although it might take over from “Kraken” as the dominant form in
the UK.
Apparently, they’ve started naming
variants on the “that sounds kinda cool” basis. It’s
becoming impossible to satirise, to be honest.
Time Out magazine is keen
to update us all with the latest info, including the “symptoms to watch out
for” with Artcuturus, which are:

Headache
·
Fatigue (mild or severe)
·
Sneezing
·
Sore throat
…or, you know, the same as every
other strain of “Covid”, and every other endemic (and
mostly harmless) respiratory infection. Except with one interesting new tweak,
according to the Metro:
However itchy eyes or conjunctivitis
has also been flagged as a possible new symptom of the variant – particularly
in cases involving children.
Which is a very sneaky thing to say
as we round into hay fever season, don’t you think?
Oh well, at least the NHS’s Spring Booster campaign just
started. That’s a lucky piece of timing.
All in all, whenever a new “Covid” story hits the headlines, it feels like the final
season of a long-running TV show. The format is tired, all the best actors have
moved on to new things, the directors and writers are no longer invested in the
story, and the whole thing is just an exercise in going through the motions.

first night.
Following
the raid, Israeli violence spread across the West Bank. Dozens have been hurt

Israeli Spyware Firm QuaDream Linked to Hacks on Journalists and Politicians
An Israeli-made spyware resembling the controversial Pegasus programme has been used to target journalists and
opposition politicians in at least ten countries around the world, researchers
have found.
The
little-known Israeli vendor named QuaDream, which
markets spyware under the name “Reign”, was established by a former Israeli
military official and veterans of the NSO Group, the
creator of Pegasus, cybersecurity researchers from
Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto said on Tuesday.
According
to the researchers, QuaDream prefers to keep a low
profile and has largely avoided the limelight, in contrast with its competitor,
Israel’s NSO Group.
Unlike the
NSO Group, which was blacklisted by the US in 2021 for its ties to illegal
surveillance programmes, QuaDream
has escaped scrutiny, until now.
Reign’s
“Premium Collection” capabilities included “real-time call recordings, camera
activation – front and back,” and “microphone activation,” according to a
company brochure uncovered by Citizen Lab.
QuaDream has sold its products to a range
of government clients including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Mexico,
and Ghana, and has pitched its services to Indonesia and Morocco.

The
British government has rolled out the red
carpet for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again in recent
weeks.
His visit
was to initiate a new partnership deal – one
which promises $25 million worth of funding to strengthen “tech industry” ties
between the two countries.
While
Netanyahu was wined and dined by British politicians, Palestinians were
mourning yet another death. Almost
100 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis this year alone.
While the
struggle for liberation has never wavered in the 75 years of Israeli occupation
– all of historic Palestine is under Israeli occupation – the cost for the
Palestinian people has been tragically high.
The sight
of an Israeli war criminal like Netanyahu being welcomed with open arms on
British soil is enough to make any decent citizen recoil in disgust. But it
isn’t the first such “welcoming,” as this relationship goes back more than a
century.
The
signing of the Balfour Declaration in 1917 was a fateful moment in Britain’s sullied history.
This
letter, containing just 67 words, issued by our then own foreign secretary
Arthur James Balfour, casually signed away Palestine
to build the all-new Jewish homeland – dismissing a most crucial issue. The
land was already inhabited by a thriving indigenous population, the
Palestinians.
In order
to make this “homeland” a reality, British soldiers laid the ground red: butchered, terrorized, chased out, arrested and even committed sexual
violence against the Palestinian people. Soldiers demolished parts of
Palestinian towns and suppressed local uprisings.
The
British paved the way for the Nakba – the
catastrophe, which saw Zionist militias, armed and trained by the British army,
ethnically cleanse up to 800,000 Palestinians.
Communities
were massacred. Over 500 civilian towns and villages were brutally wiped off
the map.

Saturday, the Lions Den, a Palestinian armed resistance
group, announced that it had executed a man it accuses of collaboration with Israel.
It is a
horrific and disturbing instance of Israel’s longstanding practice of
blackmailing Palestinians in desperate circumstances into betraying their own
people, and the terrible consequences that follow.
In a brief
statement on the messaging app Telegram,
the Nablus-based guerilla group addressed the “struggling Palestinian masses.”
Lions Den provided little detail, not
even the name of the deceased, but asserted that it would “clarify to the
public everything that is necessary at the appropriate time with precise and
complete proof, following our completion of certain security measures.”
“And now
we address every traitor who sells their religion, their conscience, their
honor and their nation,” the group said. “Your activities and your evil have
been exposed and we are following you wherever you are. No one can protect you
no matter where you hide.”
Separately,
video appeared on social
networks purporting to be of the collaborator confessing to his cooperation
with Israeli occupation forces prior to his execution.
The man,
who identifies himself as Zuhair Ghalith,
explains that he was blackmailed using a video showing him in a sexual
relationship with another Palestinian man, who Ghalith
says was an agent of Israel – implying that he was set up.
Under
threat of exposure, Ghalith says he agreed to spy on
resistance fighters for the Israeli army.
As
summarized by Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, Ghalith explains that the first
time he cooperated with Israel, he met with an Israeli officer in the occupied
West Bank town of Huwwara who ordered him to follow Adham Mabrouka, an operative of
the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of
Fatah, and his comrades.
Mabrouka, reportedly a founder of the Lions Den, was extrajudicially executed by an
Israeli death squad in Nablus in February 2022, along with two other resistance
fighters, Ashraf Mbaslat
and Muhammad Dakheel.
Ghalith also claims that information he
provided to Israel helped occupation forces kill at least two more
resistance fighters last July.
In that
instance, he describes being taken by the army to a military base near Huwwara, being dressed in an Israeli military uniform and
told to identify the men before an Israeli death squad went out and
assassinated them.
Ghalith says the Israelis rewarded him
with packets of cigarettes and cash – about $140.
Condemnation
Palestinian
human rights organizations were quick to condemn both Ghalith’s
alleged treason and his execution.
The
Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said its investigations confirmed that
the 23-year-old was executed in the Old City of Nablus by five men who shot him
multiple times from close range.
PCHR
affirmed that “collaboration with the Israeli occupation constitutes a crime”
and that collaborators are Israel’s partners “in war crimes committed in the
occupied Palestinian territory (OPT), as they betray their country, people and
families.”
But PCHR
also rejected the execution of Ghalith as violating
“the right to life and the right to a fair trial, as well as a serious breach
of the rule of law.”
PCHR
stated that “the proper way” to prosecute suspected collaborators “is through
legal procedures and a fair trial” followed by “the appropriate punishment
after being convicted before the court in accordance with the law.”

raids into the compound and Al Aqsa have soared
tensions after more than a year of near constant Israeli military operations in
occupied cities, towns and villages which killed 146 Palestinians in the West
Bank in 2022 and at least 90 so far this year. As the overall figure stands at
222, the UN called last year the deadliest for Palestinians since 2005.
For
Palestinians who cannot envisage an end to Israel’s occupation, repression and
imposition of apartheid, resistance by any and all means seems to be their only
way to respond. They face death by desperation.

government is funding its existence with a credit card.

doesn’t have on programs it can’t afford, and “we the taxpayers” are the ones

According
to the number crunchers with the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget,
the government is borrowing roughly $6 billion a day.
As the
Editorial Board for the Washington
Post warns:
“The
nation has reached a hazardous moment where what it owes, as a percentage of
the total size of the economy, is the highest since World War II. If nothing
changes, the United States will soon be in an uncharted scenario that weakens
its national security, imperils its ability to invest in the future, unfairly
burdens generations to come, and will require cuts to critical programs such as
Social Security and Medicare. It is not a future anyone wants.”
Let’s talk
numbers, shall we?
The national debt (the amount the federal
government has borrowed over the years and must pay back) is $31 trillion and will grow another $19 trillion by 2033. That translates to roughly $246,000 per taxpayer or $94,000
for every single person in the country.
The bulk
of that debt has been amassed over the past two decades, thanks
in large part to the fiscal shenanigans of four presidents, 10 sessions of
Congress and two wars.
It’s
estimated that the amount this country owes is now 130% greater than its gross domestic product (all the products and services produced in one year by labor and property supplied by the citizens).
In other
words, the government is spending more than it brings in.
The U.S.
ranks as the 12th most indebted nation in
the world, with much of that debt owed to the Federal Reserve, large investment
funds and foreign governments, namely, Japan and China.

No one but
the terminally naïve should be surprised that security services lie – and that

that either violate domestic or international law or that would be
near-universally rejected by their own populations.
Which is
reason enough why anyone following the fallout from explosions last September
that ripped holes in three of the four Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea
supplying Russian gas to Europe should be wary of accepting anything Western
agencies have to say on the matter.
In fact,
the only thing that Western publics should trust is the consensus among
“investigators” that the three simultaneous blasts deep underwater on the
pipelines – a fourth charge apparently failed to detonate – were sabotage, not
some freak coincidental accident.
Someone blew
up the Nord Stream pipelines, creating an untold environmental catastrophe as
the pipes leaked huge quantities of methane, a supremely active global-warming
gas. It was an act of unrivaled industrial and environmental terrorism.
If
Washington had been able to pin the explosions on Russia, as it initially
hoped, it would have done so with full vigor. There is nothing Western states
would like more than to intensify world fury against Moscow, especially in the
context of NATO’s express efforts to “weaken” Russia through a proxy war waged
in Ukraine.

Criminal Investigations Still
Needed for Architects of US Invasion of Iraq

The U.S. Senate repealing the 2002 Authorization for
Military Force in Iraq was necessary and just. Still, that action should be
viewed only as a first step in a national process of reckoning with and
accounting for the consequences of the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Often
identified as the worst foreign policy decision in United States history, the
Iraq War was catastrophic for millions of Americans and Iraqis and cataclysmic
for Iraqi society, regional stability and international law. The invasion and
occupation are correctly acknowledged as a crime: a war commissioned on lies and a violation of the Nuremberg Principles. As men and women in military or federal
government service at the time of the invasion, we’re compelled to remind
others of the devastation this war has wrought to ensure that the US does not
re-commit this sin.
The costs
of the Iraq War are staggering. As veterans we know this all too well. Over 4,500 US servicemembers were killed and more than 30,000 wounded. At
least 3,600 contractors lost their lives, all men and women who would have been
wearing military uniforms in previous wars. Hundreds of thousands of veterans
returned from Iraq and Afghanistan (for those who fought the war it is
difficult to untie the two, as so many of us participated in both) physically
and mentally destroyed. Suicide, as in all wars, looms large. Limited data by
the Veterans
Administration states that the suicide rates for Iraq veterans are four to 10 times
higher than that of their civilian peers. This grim figure supports the age-old
adage that only the dead have seen the end of war.
In the
U.S., many Iraq veterans will tell you that they know more dead from suicide
now than from combat.
The
horrific cost to the Iraqi people is as hard to grasp as it is shameful to
face. Credible estimates of the number of Iraqis killed since 2003 total one
million. There is no known number of
wounded; it must also total in the millions. The psychological scars run deep: More than
half of the Iraqi population is
believed to be living with PTSD and depression, while in 2021, nearly one
in four Iraqis were refugees. For those of us
who were there, these are some of the hardest memories to face.

in the People’s Republic of China for one of the most important state visits of
his third presidential term.

diplomatic mission, which will take place on Thursday and Friday, will be
joined by ministers and governors — a reflection of the size of the existing
and future possibilities in the relationship between Brazil and the Asian
power.
It is
expected that over 20 agreements will be signed in Beijing, intensifying the already
huge trade between the two countries. China has been Brazil’s biggest trading
partner since 2009. Last year, the commercial balance between them surpassed
$150 billion and represented the major source of investment in all Latin
American countries.
The visit,
initially scheduled for March, was delayed due to Lula being
diagnosed with pneumonia at the time.
On
Thursday, Lula will attend the inauguration of former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff as president of
the New Development Bank (NDB), the BRICS bank, in Shanghai.
Rousseff replaces Marcos Troyjo, a name linked to former Bolsonaro
minister Paulo Guedes. On Friday, Lula will meet in
Beijing with union leaders, the president of the National People’s
Assembly Zhao Leji, Prime Minister Li Qiang and President Xi Jinping.
Lula’s
fourth foreign mission after his third presidential inauguration, the trip
comes two months after his visit to Washington. Since taking the presidency in
January this year, Lula has landed in Argentina, Uruguay and the United States.
Now, he will head to China and the United Arab Emirates, marking the country’s
comeback to the international arena after the period of isolation under Jair Bolsonaro’s government
(Liberal Party).

mainland would be an inter-Chinese conflict that needn’t involve a single American, and Chang is most assuredly not part of any “we”

circumstances.
Chang
frames his narrative as though China is menacing Americans in their homes, when
in reality only the exact opposite is true: the U.S. has been militarily encircling China for many years and is rapidly accelerating its efforts to do so.

Policing is neither reformable nor redeemable.
Watching the brutal beating of Tyre Nichols for
me drove home a deeper understanding that policing as an institution can never
be reformed, and that policing itself is structurally
tied to inherent forms of repressive control, “legitimate” violence and
surveillance.
The
activity of policing has embedded within it a normative construction of the
social world that identifies what must be subdued. Hence, the police are (by
definition) those who are on the side of “law and order,” the side of the
status quo, which thereby means that others (you, me, us) are rendered
immediately vulnerable to their draconian judgments and their militarized
proclivities, ones that are implicitly backed by the state and its police. It
is this understanding of policing that forces us to
think critically about policing as a mechanism, an instrument, for those in
power vis-à-vis those who are not. The state constantly seeks as many devotees
as possible, and it demands broad latitude in
arbitrarily defining those who need to be brutalized as well as how it can
actually carry out that brutalization.
Flooded
with all these thoughts in the wake of the killing of Tyre
Nichols, I reached out to Laurence Ralph, who is professor of anthropology at
Princeton University and the director of the Center on Transnational Policing.
Ralph’s voice is indispensable in a world of violence: His work powerfully
helps us to understand the various social forces that produce variegated forms
of social injustice. He is the author of two books. His most recent book is
entitled The Torture Letters:

Sudan’s capital Khartoum has turned into a war zone with a split in the military forces. The Sudanese army is battling the Rapid Support
Forces (RSF) which is a paramilitary force, and the 10 million residents are
taking cover to avoid the artillery exchanges, and air force operations against
the RSF. Hospitals are reporting 80 injured, and three civilian deaths.
Al Sharek TV, based in the UAE, reporting from Sudan, claimed
that an Eqyptian soldier was killed in Murwey military airbase in Khartoum today, with raging
battles continuing from yesterday.
A large
contingent from the army swooped into the RSF camps and took control on
Saturday after the RSF had attacked army bases previously, according to
Brigadier-General Nabil Abdallah,
who characterized the army as performing their duty to safeguard the country.
The RSF
claimed to have taken control of the capital airport, two other regional
airports, and the presidential palace, while Sudan’s General Intelligence
Service refuted the RSF claims as untrue.
General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the ruling Sovereign
Council, was reportedly safe. Sudan has struggled to return to civilian
rule following a military takeover when the army and the RSF ousted the former
president in 2019. A transition period, with elections to follow was
planned, but never initiated.
General Mohamed Hamdan
Dagalo, also
known as Hemedti, the commander of the RSF, called Burhan a ‘criminal’ and accused the army of carrying out a
coup. Hemedti has been deputy leader of the ruling
Sovereign Council headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan
since 2019, and his RSF are 100,000 strong.

The conclusion of “No Evidence So Far” in the title
referred to the strong suspicion that this horrendous quake was the result of
an ENMOD engineered disaster. (Environmental Modification
Techniques). Up to this day it killed more than 48,000 people, injured
more than half a million, and still tens of thousands are missing.
Will there ever be justice?
Will the presumed perpetrators be brought to
trial?
The “no evidence” statement is wearing thinner and
thinner, especially, when listening to Serdar
Hussein, the Head of the Turkish Space Agency talking on Russian TV.
He uses hyperbolic emblematic speech, when talking
about the hard titanium alloy material being launched to the Earth. It
refers to using the titanium alloy rods to send these deadly, super-power beams
of energy to earth, deep into the ground to cause the earthquake:

certain amount of. And then they aim and launch them to Earth. It’s like
a stick with a sharp point. For example, God forbid, it falls somewhere, we
will not name the disaster scenario now, but as soon as it falls to the ground,
it penetrates up to 5 km deep into the earth.
This happens very quickly and creates an earthquake
of magnitude 7-8.
As a result of the impact, everything that is there
will be destroyed. Look, there are no weapons here, no explosives, no bombs, nothing like that. Simple sticks [rods]. But there
is such a force that comes from outer space, and you have no chance to see it,
stop it, or defend yourself.”
Serdar Hussein’s statement remains to be
verified.
According to Turkey’s President Recep
Tayyip Erdogan “More
than 13 million people have been affected by the devastating earthquake in
Turkey.” (quoted by Tass,
February 7, 2023)
“The earthquake has caused colossal damage. It was
the biggest-ever calamity not only in our country’s history but in the history
of the entire world,” Erdogan was quoted telling
local television channels.
“We are living through the most painful days in our
history. Two powerful earthquakes, with the epicenters in Pazarcik
and Elbistan in Kahramanmaras,
[close to the city of Gaziantep] have caused large-scale damage in ten
provinces. Around 13.5 million [out of 85 million Turkish population]
of our citizens have been affected on these territories,” he said.
Early Monday morning at around 4 AM on February 6,
2023, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked southeast Turkey and
Syria. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake’s epicenter hit an
area about 30 km from Gaziantep (2.1 million population),
a major city and provincial capital 100 km from the Syrian border. The quake
was centered about 18 km deep.
It was followed by a strong 6.7 magnitude aftershock
