Subject: FREE LIFE-TIME TRIAL OFFER: INVITE A FRIEND TO SUBSCRIBE TO CEMISA-IN-EXILE AND JOIN OTHER STRATEGISTS TO THINK GLOBALLY AND ACT LOCALLY FOR POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE IN A WORLD OF TRAPS AND TURMOIL.

2 January 2007
Grenoble, France

Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to invite your friends and/or network of colleagues to subscribe to our mailing list, in order to receive what one reader has called  "a kind of Readers' Digest of the American left". Friends and colleagues of CEIMSA often forward our bi-weekly bulletins to others, and some colleagues use the texts we send out as teaching materials, for class discussions and analysis in history, politics and sociology.

A brief history of CEIMSA

Our bilingual research center for the Advanced Study of American Institutions and Social Movements has been in existence since September 2000. After hosting three major international conferences at Stendhal University in Grenoble, France [for a complete profile of our conferences and the original scientific publications from these conferences, please visit: http://dimension.ucsd.edu/CEIMSA-IN-EXILE/colloques.html.] , we were purged from our university by a new conservative administration beginning in late spring 2004, and our Internet web site was summarily liquidated while at the very time it was providing required course readings and research material for students writing their masters thesis in American Studies at Stendhal University. [for extensive documentation on the history of this irresponsible academic repression, please visit: http://dimension.ucsd.edu/CEIMSA-IN-EXILE/newsletter/newsletter-22.html .]

After picking up the pieces from this Stalinesque administrative policy of disappearances in the summer of 2004, the eight Ph.D. students attached to our research center were obliged to enroll at the nearby University of Savoie, and the many thousands of pages of scientific documentation which our CEIMSA Internet site housed were rescued by The University of California, were we relocated with a new Internet address, since September 2004: http://dimension.ucsd.edu/CEIMSA-IN-EXILE/ .

We hope you will take time to look at the reader-friendly Home Page of CEIMSA-IN-EXILE, including our Publications, Newsletters, and our Archives, which contain the more than 280 Bulletins that we have sent out on various subjects since 2001.

To be put on our mailing list, readers can simply send us their name and the email address to which they would like our bi-weekly Bulletins sent.
