FROM: Francis McCollum Feeley
Dear Gentlemen:
I am teaching in the UFR d'Anglais at l'Université Stendhal, as
professor of American Civilization,
and since September 2000 I have served
as the director of a Research Center,
Centre d'information et d'étude sur
les stratégies internationales
des mouvements et sociétés anglophones
(CIESIMSA). Early last spring,
I spoke with Bernard Drugman, the Director
of your UFR at D.G.E.S., about the
International Colloquium my Research
Center is organizing for January
11 and 12, 2002. The theme of this
interdisciplinary conference is,
"L'Impact des entreprise mutinationales
américaines dans la sociètè".
We are bringing together for this event a group of internationally
known economists, political scientists,
historians, and sociologists. I am
sure you will recognize some of
the names of specialists who have already
accepted to present papers at this
meeting, such as: Edward Herman,
Professor of Finance at the Wharton
School, University of Pennsylvania,
Bertell Ollman, Professor of Political
Science at NYU, Dan Schiller,
Professor of Communication at the
University of Illinois, Douglas Dowd,
Professor of Economic History at
Johns Hopkins University, Richard Du Boff,
Samuel and Etta Wexler Professor
Emeritus of Economics at Bryn Mawr College,
Jerry Mander, President of the International
Forum on Globalization (IFG),
Christian de Montlibert, Professor
of Sociology at the University of
Strasbourg, Allen Pessin, Professor
of Sociology at the University of
Grenoble, Michael Albert, founding
editor of "ZMagazine" in Boston, Fred
Lonidier, Professor of Photography
at the University of California-San
Diego, Michael Parenti, Political
Scientist from Berkeley, Susan George,
from ATTAC, Serge Halimi, from Le
Monde diplomatique, and the list goes on....
Professor Drugman suggested that I contact you directly to invite
you to this prestigious conference.
Many of the papers will be published,
both in French and in English. Interpreters
will be present to assist the
audience of we hope 1,000 people
understand the presentations made both in
French and in English.
If you are interested in participating in this International
Colloquium and discussing your ideas
with internationally known economists
and other academics, I would like
to invite you to contact me as quickly as
possible.
This two-day conference is planned to be a very large event held in
the Louis Weil Amphitheater, with
a seating capacity of nearly 1000. The
individual "Ateliers", which will
be help between "Plenary Sessions" will be
held in smaller Amphitheaters, accommodating
100 or 200 people.
Thanks you in advance for your attention to this important request.
I shall look forward to hearing
from you in the near future, if you are
interested in participating next
January in this International Colloquium.
Sincerely,
Francis McCollum Feeley
