Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,

Here are three articles from La Nouvelle République (Loire), reporting on the Cingal Affaire, the English Department Chairperson at the University of Tours who was recently attacked by police while taking photos at the time of a large student demonstration in Tours.

The 3 items below attempt to deal with the new disorientation in French society, as the corporate elite (largely bankers) are attempting to restructure public education to be able to harvest a massive crop of Student Loans. (An alternative perspective, of course, is that this new policy will  introduce "Debt Slavery" into the lives of most French students which will effect their lives for decades after they complete their studies, if they are lucky enough to find any job. This is what is meant today by "The American Model" of education, and, as we know, many American students think of their large debts as a badge of honor. They have become dedicated to paying  these debts in monthly instalments for the next many years, as a sign of full membership in "THE SERIOUS WORLD". [See Louis-Ferdinand Céline's book, Death on the Instalment Plan (1936).]

Item A. is a letter by Professor Nathalie Hascoët gving tesimony to the new level of police repression of students and faculty in sourtrhern France.

Item B. is an Internet link from Professor Sarah Hatchuel demonstrating the new police policy in France of no photos of police in public places.

Item C. is a reply by Professor Guillaume Cingal, warning of a new stage of repression in France.
