Fear of the Unknown, and the Courage to Face It.
10 December 2016
Grenoble, France
Dear Colleagues and Friends of CEIMSA,
What we know as Pieter Bruegel’s painting,« Landscape
with the Fall of Icarus » is perhaps a copy of the original by an
unknown artist (ca. 1560), but nevertheless the message is clear, namely that human indifference reigns
as innovation and creativity rises and falls around us. At the link below, we
find six brief poems on this same theme.
Six Poems about Icarus - Williams,
Auden, Spender, Sexton, Field, and Rukeyser
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_tLjiH5GOs
The 21
items below will allow CEIMSA readers to discover the social cost of
indifference as technology in the hands of capitalist political interests threatens to enslave us or
worse . . . .

Donald Trump Will Cause
US Power to Collapse
Norwegian sociologist Johan Galtung, known as
the "founding father" of peace studies as a scientific subject and
recognized for correctly predicting numerous historical events, among them, the
fall of the Soviet Union, the Tiananmen Square uprising in China, and
9/11, has warned that US global power - will collapse while the
property mogul is in the White House.

Subject: New video on
Israel partisans' connection to U.S. invasion of Iraq
Dear Francis,
Last week I was going to testify at Code Pink's Iraq Tribunal. However, a few days before the event I learned that I wasn't among those scheduled to testify, despite the fact that my proposal to discuss the Israel connection to the war had been approved weeks earlier.
Therefore,
we've made a video of what I would have said. Israel and its American partisans
played a major role – perhaps the decisive role – in pushing the U.S. to invade
Iraq.
We think
it's extremely important to understand the causation of the Iraq war and its
role in today's tragic events. We also feel it's essential to understand how
and why this disastrous war was promoted in order to prevent future such wars
from occurring.
We hope
you'll view this video and share it with others.
Thank you
for your support in enabling our work.
For justice and peace,
Alison Weir

The Mafia
State
http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/the_mafia_state_20161204
by Chris Hedges
Systems of
governance that are seized by a tiny cabal become mafia states. The early
years—Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton in the United States—are marked by
promises that the pillage will benefit everyone. The later years—George W. Bush
and Barack Obama—are marked by declarations that things are getting better even
though they are getting worse. The final years—Donald Trump—see the lunatic
trolls, hedge fund parasites, con artists, conspiracy theorists and criminals
drop all pretense and carry out an orgy of looting and corruption.
